Jack William Szostak
Jack William Szostak was born November 9, 1952, he is a Canadian American biologist of Polish British descent and Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School and Alexander Rich Distinguished Investigator at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He was awarded the 2009 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine, along with Elizabeth Blackburn and Carol W. Greider, for the discovery of how chromosomes are protected by telomeres.

Mangalyan launch
President Pranab Mukherjee today (November 5, 2013) congratulated ISRO for the successful launch of ‘Mangalyan’, Mars Orbiter Spacecraft, and said it was a significant milestone that will inspire more scientists to make greater strides in achieving goals. In his message to Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), K. Radhakrishnan, the President said: “This launch of India’s first dedicated Mars Orbiter Spacecraft is a significant milestone in the progress of our space programme and space applications. The blasted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR), located on the island of Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh coast. If the Orbiter reaches its destination successfully by Sept 2014, India would be the fifth country to reach out to Mars.

China's first lunar satellite, Chang'e 1 goes into orbit around the Moon
Chang’e 1 was an unmanned Chinese lunar-orbiting spacecraft, part of the first phase of the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program. It was launched on 24 October 2007 at 10:05:04 UTC from Xichang Satellite Launch Center. It left lunar transfer orbit on 31 October and entered lunar orbit on 5 November 2007.
