It is a horse racing event held on the first Sunday of February( 2013 February 3)  at the mahalakshmi Racecourse in Mumbai. It is one of the premier sporting activities in the city. It was first run in the year 1943

Elizabeth Blackwell {3 February 1821(Bristol in England) – 31 May 1910( Hastings in England) }was the first woman to receive a medical degree in the United States, as well as the first woman on the UK Medical Register. She was the first openly identified woman to graduate from medical school, a pioneer in promoting the education of women in the medicine the United States, and a social and moral reformer in both the United States and in England.
