Mohammad Afzal Guru (hanged on
9 February 2013) was found guilty of conspiration in the December 2001 attack on the parliament of India and was sentenced to death by the Supreme court in 2002. The sentence was scheduled to be carried out on 20 October
2006, but Afzal was given a stay of execution and remained on death row.
On 3 February 2013, his mercy petition was rejected by the Indian
President. He was hanged at Delhi's Tihar Jail at 06:25am on
February
09, 2013. He belongs to Jammu & Kashmir and he was completed his first year MBBS course and he was preparing for IAS exam.However, he became a member of Jammu & Kashmir liberation front where he received terrorist training and became involved in terrorist activities
