Alan Bartlett Shepard
Alan Bartlett Shepard was born on November 18, 1923. he was an American naval aviator, test
pilot, flag officer, NASA astronaut, and businessman, who in 1961 became
the second person, and the first American, to travel into space. He died on July 21, 1998.

International Mother Language Day is an observance held annually on 21 February worldwide to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. It has observed every year since
2000 February. It was first announced on 17 November 1999 by UNESCO.

Clarence H. Du Burns was born on 13 September 1918, he was a self-made politician who rose through
grass-roots involvement in his native East Baltimore to become the
city's first African-American mayor. He died on January 12, 2002.

Pauline Marois becomes the first female premier of Quebec

On September 4, 2012, Pauline Marois, the 30th and current Premier of Quebec and leader of the Parti Quebecoisled her party to victory in the Quebec general election, thus becoming the first female premier in the province's history. Marois is representing the riding of Charlevoix–Cote-de-Beaupre in the National Assembly of Quebec.

Space Shuttle Discovery first flight
Space Shuttle Discovery is one of the retired orbiters
of the Space Shuttle Programs of NASA. Its first flight is on August 30, 1984– September 5, 1984(STS-41-D ), until its
final landing during STS-133on March 9, 2011. Discovery has flown more than any other spacecraft having completed 39 successful missions in over 27 years of service.

First black woman to win Wimbledon
Althea Gibson was an American tennis player and professional
golfer, and the first African-American athlete of either gender to cross
the color line of international tennis. She was born on August 25, 1927. In 1956 she became the first
person of color to win a Grand Slam title. She died on September 28, 2003.

First ascent of the Eiger
The Eiger is a 3,970 metres mountain in the Bernese Alps in Switzerland. It is the easternmost peak of a ridge crest that extends across the Monch to the Jungfrau at 4,158 m. The first ascent of the Eiger was made by Swiss guides Christian Almer and Peter Bohren and Irishman Charles Barrington, who climbed the west flank on August 11, 1858.

Justice M. Fathima Beevi
Justice M. Fathima Beevi was the first female judge to be
appointed to the Supreme Court of India and the first Muslim woman to be
appointed to any higher judiciary. She is the first woman judge of a
Supreme Court of a nation in India and Asia. She was born on April 30, 1927.
