The Crocodile Hunter

Stephen Robert "Steve" Irwin, nicknamed "The Crocodile Hunter", was an Australian wildlife expert, television personality, and conservationist.Irwin achieved worldwide fame from the television series. He was born on 22 February 1962. The Crocodile Hunter, an internationally broadcast wildlife documentary series which he co-hosted with his wife Terri. He died on 4 September 2006 after being pierced in the chest by a stingraybarb while filming an underwater documentary film.

Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell

Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell was a lieutenant-general in the British Army, writer, founder and Chief Scout of the Scout Movement. He was also known as B-P or Lord Baden-Powell. He was born February 22, 1857 and died on January 8, 1941.

World Thinking Day

World Thinking Day is  celebrated annually on February 22 by all Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.  It is also celebrated by Scout and Guide organizations. It was decided by the delegates that this day would be February 22, birthday of both Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the Boy Scout movement, and Lady Olave Baden-Powell, his wife and the First World Chief Guide.

Serial explosions in Hyderabad

Based on to the first reports from Hyderabad, it is reported that eleven people were killed and more than fifty injured on Thursday ( February 21,2013) night when at least three powerful serial blasts rocked a busy commercial hub of Hyderabad close to a crowded bus stand at Dilsukhnagar. The blasts happened at three points - Anand Kishan Centre, Konark theater and Venkatadri movie theater. The blasts happened simultaneously at around 7pm. The first blast occurred at 7:01 pm. The second blast happened at 7:06 pm. Two cycles were used to cause the blasts as per initial repports. One bomb has been said to have been found to be unexploded near a foot bridge.

International Mother Language Day is an observance held annually on 21 February worldwide to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. It has observed every year since 2000 February. It was first announced on 17 November 1999 by UNESCO.

Washington Monument Dedicated

The Washington Monument is an obelisk on the national Mall in Washington, D.C, built to commemorate the first American president, General George Washington. Construction of the monument began in 1848, but was halted from 1854 to 1877, and finally completed in 1884.completed monument was dedicated on February 21, 1885.

The Supreme Court of India  extends the execution of death sentence  imposed on four aides of sandalwood smuggler Veerappan by 6 weeks on today (20 february2013for killing 22 police personnel in a landmine blast in Karnataka in 1993.

Nylon Patented By DuPont

A patent was issued to Wallace Carothers and several Du Pont co-workers on February 16, 1937, covering nylon and its process of manufacture. Nylon was announced at the New York World's Fair in 1939, where it was said to be based on coal, air and water (technically true, in a broad sense, since it contained carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen) and was said to be stronger than silk.
