Sardar Vallabhbhai Jhaverbhai Patel

Sardar Vallabhbhai Jhaverbhai Patel was born on 31 October 1875, he was an Indian barrister and statesman, one of the leaders of the Indian National Congress and one of the founding fathers of the Republic of India. He is known to be a social leader of India who played an unparalleled role in the country's struggle for independence and guided its integration into a united, independent nation. He died on 15 December 1950.

Largest naval offshore patrol vessel commissioned

 The Indian Navy inducted into service its largest offshore patrol vessel (OPV), INS Sunayna, at the Southern Naval Command here on today(October 15, 2013). Vice-Admiral Satish Soni, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the command who commissioned the 105-metre long ship, designed and built by the public sector Goa Shipyard, told the media that the OPV added to the command’s teeth and that it would soon be deployed for anti-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden
